White alpaca

Soft, gentle and curious, with limpid eyes: there really is nothing quite as endearing as an alpaca. Yesterday we visited the open house at Abstract Alpaca Consortium near Palmerston, Ont. They have a flock of about 45 and a fibre processing plant. This one is of the huacaya breed, but the farm is specializing in breeding animals of a purer suri type, which has longer, sleeker fleece and is harder to find. The little white cria behind her is a suri. The open house continues Nov. 10 and they have a booth at St. Jacobs Farmers Market.
